Student Feature - Ibrahim Abdirahman

My name is Ibrahim, and I'm from the Twin Cities, Minnesota.

I'm currently working on my Commercial rating.

As a child, my dream was to become an astronaut. I grew up making rockets out of cardboard boxes and running around in astronaut costumes. Throughout the years and talking to actual astronauts, it turns out most of them were pilots prior. This kind of opened a whole new world into aviation sinceI wanted to follow their footsteps. I looked into becoming a pilot, and after my first intro flight, I fell in love.

My favorite thing about flight training at Minnesota State University, Mankato is the community that they have here. I toured other aviation colleges, and what I found here, compared to other flight schools, was unique and amazing. Everyone is welcoming, from the front desk staff to flight instructors and students. From day one, I knew this was the environment that would help me be successful.

As for my plans after graduation, my goal is to end up flying for a major airline. After I finish my flight training, I plan to instruct at North Star Aviation and to also do other types of flying along with instructing to further my experience and build time before the major airlines.
