Student Feature - Ploychomphu Nikomrat

Updated: Jun 9, 2023

Hello! My name is Ploychomphu Nikomrat. I was born in Thailand, lived in upstate New York, and then moved to North Mankato, Minnesota. I’m currently working on my Private Pilot Certificate. My career plans include being a commercial pilot and at the same time travel the world.

Big dreams, right?

I was a PSEO student during high school and took two year's worth of college classes at Minnesota State University, Mankato. During that time, I explored the different majors offered by the university. I evaluated myself for what I wanted to be. I realized that I traveled a lot. Every year, during the summer, I would visit my family back in Thailand. Depending on which airline I travelled with, I have stopped by many airports and countries before reaching my destination. I find it enjoyable to travel and fascinating to explore different cultures and traditions.

What I enjoyed about flight training at Minnesota State Mankato and North Star Aviation is the flight instructors at the airport are friendly and dedicated to helping student pilots reach their goals. The flight training provided is challenging, rewarding, and I get good mentorship from the instructors.

My goal after graduation is to be a commercial pilot. Flying for a major airline is a goal of mine. Delta has been listed as one of the Top 100 companies on Forbes’ 2022 Best Employer for Diversity list. Delta is one of the best workplaces for women in the U.S. with great working conditions, benefits, and representation of women in leadership.

Additionally, I want to fly for FedEx because I might get the opportunity to fly one of the most advanced aircrafts in the world.
